Additional Bank Holiday 2012

An additional Bank Holiday has been declared for next year to mark the occasion of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. This day will fall on Tuesday 5th June 2012 and, in addition to this, the Bank Holiday at the end of May will be moved to Monday 4th June 2012 to allow for an extended weekend. Monday 28th May 2012 will become normal working day.

The extra Bank Holiday does not increase an employees annual holiday entitlement under the Working Time Regulations. It will be dependent on the wording of an employees contract whether they will benefit from the additional day (i.e. if the contract is plus Bank Holidays or including Bank Holidays).

It is, however, important to consider the significance of the Jubilee celibrations as this can help to boost staff morale within the workplace.
