Payroll

Welcome

To administer your own payroll can be time consuming, complicated and fraught with error. Penalties for incorrect payroll operation are increasing and late or incomplete returns now give rise to wider implications. As it is a very confidential area of a business it is normally the business owner or a senior employee that is delegated the task and this then takes you away from the core activities of your business.

The task is becoming more difficult with continual changes and increasing complexities of employee taxation and employment legislation.

Let Shapcotts take this strain away from you and allow you to get on with running and growing your business.

We have dedicated staff who can relieve this burden by providing a cost effective, comprehensive and confidential service, whatever the size or complexity of your business.

Our payroll service includes:

  • Registering a business for PAYE
  • Employee Payslips
  • Monthly PAYE/ NIC liability payslip
  • Employers Annual Return (P35)
  • Benefit in Kind Return (P11D)
  • Statutory Sick Pay
  • Statutory Maternity Pay
  • Student Loan Deductions
  • Sundry employment advice
  • Completion of other ad hoc forms

Alternatively Shapcotts can provide you with support as and when you need it throughout the year to complement your in-house payroll department, assisting if necessary with payroll year end and P11D's.

Please contact us on 01332 680540 to discuss your payroll needs.

As part of our services we have introduced Shapcotts Business Academy. This is a series of free Webinars that is run several times during the year.

The “Expanding your Team – Taking on Employees” Webinar covers the topic of how to take on an employee whether it be your first or 50th. The webinar takes you through the process from making the decision to take on an employee through to induction and finally to what happens if or when they leave.

If you would like to register for this free Webinar or find out when the next Webinar is, head to our website and view the Webinars page.

Payroll Disputes

We offer a tax investigation scheme to cover our fees in the event of a dispute between the tax office and yourself.

Construction Industry (CIS)

The law on subcontractor status is now being tightened and the need to establish if a person is correctly classified is now becoming paramount to avoid draconian penalties. Detailed guidance can be provided to ensure you make the right decision.

Businesses within the Construction Industry who use subcontractors must be registered under the CIS scheme before making any payments to subcontractors. Different rates apply dependent upon the subcontractor’s classification. A form CIS300 needs to be completed on a monthly basis declaring payments and deductions made. Late or none submission of this form will incur ongoing penalties.

At Shapcotts we provide a full CIS service that includes:

  • Verification of subcontractors
  • Completion of Monthly CIS Return (CIS300)
  • Completion of vouchers for subcontractors
  • Advice on deductions and amounts payable
  • Guidance on subcontractors’ status
