Construction Industry (CIS)

The law on subcontractor status is now being tightened and the need to establish if a person is correctly classified is now becoming paramount to avoid draconian penalties. Detailed guidance can be provided to ensure you make the right decision.

Businesses within the Construction Industry who use subcontractors must be registered under the CIS scheme before making any payments to subcontractors. Different rates apply dependent upon the subcontractor’s classification. A form CIS300 needs to be completed on a monthly basis declaring payments and deductions made. Late or none submission of this form will incur ongoing penalties.
