Shapcotts are pleased to announce they have merged with fellow Derby based Chartered Accountants Blythe Squires Wilson earlier this year.
Blythe’s has a long history in Derby originally Younghusband Taft & Co in the early part of the 20th Century. The firm continued to evolve to become Arthur Blythe & Co and it was in 1977 that one of the current partners, Alan Castledine, became a partner. Arthur Blythe & Co continued to serve many clients both locally and in the wider business community around Derbyshire, providing accountancy, audit, and tax services across many business sectors. In 2001 they merged with Squires Wilson, a firm established by Reg Squires and John Wilson, to form Blythe Squires Wilson.
Shapcotts Accountants, established in 1984, is currently run by Melvin Shapcott FCA and his daughter Kimberley Shapcott ACA together with their team of 18 staff from their offices at Charter House, Wyvern Court on the Wyvern Business Park.
Melvin Shapcott, Senior Director at Shapcotts Accountants, said the merger would strengthen Shapcotts Accountants position as an expanding independent firm of Chartered Accountants and business advisors, based in Derby but with clients nationwide.
He said “We have worked together with Blythes in the past and known the partners and some of the team for many years so we know that our firms have a similar culture and ethos of providing our clients with the best possible accountancy, audit, tax and general business advice possible. As a result of the merger we will be able to continue to provide a high level of service and support to both their clients and our own.”
