It’s nearly that time of year again. No not Christmas, Small Business Saturday! This year it will be on Saturday 3rd December, and aims to keep the trend of increasing Small Businesses’ sales.
This year there are two FREE workshops and a Q & A session at the Derby Council House: “The 3 Numbers you need to know to grow your business” by Shapcotts and “Staff: What to do when things go wrong!” by Loates HR.
There will also be the chance to hear inspiring stories and ask questions of local business owners.
Last year on Saturday 5th December customers spent £623m with small businesses, an increase of £119m (24%) from 2014. They also saw an amazing social media presence with #SmalBizSatUK trending at number 1 all day on the Saturday and over 100,000 tagged tweets sent.
Much like last year, we had another flash mob, this time at the historical retail Cathedral Quarters district standing on the entrance to the Strand Arcade from Sadler Gate. Organised by Yvonne Gorman of Essential Print Services, it was great to see so many small businesses of all types looking forward to the day.
Over 75% of local councils supported the campaign, including our own Derby City Council. This year Shapcotts will be hosting a seminar about how to measure and grow your business.
